About Explorers

MECCA's dynamic program provides children in grades 1-3 with music literacy, listening skills, and music fundamentals.  Led by Director/Instructor Andrea Cottrill for Emory Explorers and Dr. Lauren Ramey for Johnson City Explorers, class meets for one hour each week. Singers explore the world of music through singing, movement, games, improvisation, and other activities.

The Explorers will perform in at least two public concerts
each year with the MECCA choirs.

Rehearsals

Johnson City Explorers
  • Meets on Mondays from 4:15-5:15 throughout the school year at Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church in Johnson City, TN

Emory Explorers
  • Meets on Thursdays from 4:30-5:30 throughout the school year on the Emory & Henry College campus in Emory, VA

Tuition

Tuition is $190.00 for a year. 

MECCA believes that all children who want to be in choir should be in choir. MECCA will help qualified families on a sliding scale, and assistance may be based on available resources. If your child needs tuition assistance, please see the tuition assistance information in our FAQs.
